Clarksburg bridge reopens after suspected concrete failure

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – In Clarksburg, engineers said the Sixth Street bridge connecting to Glen Elk will reopen Friday afternoon, according to city manager John Whitmore.

“There’s concrete that had fallen onto the roadway surface (Route 50) from the Sixth Street Bridge,” Whitmore said. “There was some additional loose concrete, so at this time it’s being cleaned up. The bridge is structurally sound, so it will reopen as soon as the debris removal has taken place.”

Earlier this week the Second Street bridge was closed temporarily after being hit by a piece of equipment.
