Dangerous fugitive captured in Westover

WESTOVER, W.Va. – A fugitive with a history of violence and escape was captured after a foot pursuit in Westover on Monday. Supervisory Deputy for U.S. Marshals Service Terry Moore said Wallace Anthony Booth, 30, was indicted last week by federal officials for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a firearm.

“He was actually involved in two foot pursuits last week when local officers in the Morgantown/Westover area approached and tried to arrest him,” Moore said.

Moore said the U.S. Marshals joined the search on Monday and located Booth at an apartment in the 100 block of Holland Avenue. Moore said while they were trying to get Booth to comply with police he was putting his next plan to flee in motion.

“He actually fled through the ceiling and onto the roof and was able to give officers a foot pursuit that involved almost every jurisdiction in the Monongalia County area,” Moore said.

Booth was taken into custody just after 1 Monday afternoon in the vicinity of West Main and Pierce Streets.

Booth reportedly ingested narcotics prior to his apprehension and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

“Booth is originally from the Baltimore, Maryland area,” Moore said. ” He was dealing narcotics while carrying firearms in the Morgantown area, so we rated him as a highly dangerous individual.”
