Day of Action planned for Fairmont State University

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Fairmont State University and the Tygart Valley United Way have partnered to host the Fairmont State Day of Action on today. Students, employees and alumni will participate in service projects both on and off-campus as part of the University’s Welcome Week.

“Welcome Week is one of my favorite events of the academic year,” said Fairmont State University President, Mirta M. Martin. “Welcoming our students home to Fairmont State is always a cherished time on campus, but adding a service component makes this week all the more special. We’re looking forward to a wonderful day spent with our Falcon Family, while working together to better our campus and surrounding communities.”

The event begins at 12:30 p.m. with live entertainment and lunch on the Falcon Center quad. At 1 p.m. Fairmont State University President, Dr. Mirta M. Martin, and Tygart Valley United Way CEO, Brett White, will kick-off the event with service celebrations. The projects begin at 2 p.m.

“The United Way is always excited to get students into the community working with our phenomenal community agencies, and we are thrilled to partner with Fairmont State University for Day of Action this year,” said Tygart Valley United Way CEO, Brett White. “We hope this opportunity will encourage our new Falcons to explore our community and get involved with the many services that work daily to make our community a better place.”
