Deputies on leave following shooting; suspect attacked officers

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Monongalia County Sheriff Al Kisner says two deputies involved in the fatal shooting of a suspect Friday have been placed on administrative leave.   Kisner tells the Dominion Post that the action is routine department policy following a shooting.  Kisner did not identify the deputies.

Deputies shot and killed an unidentified female suspect near the community of Brookhaven Friday afternoon after the woman drove her vehicle toward a deputy and then crashed into a police cruiser.

The newspaper reports officers were called to Harner Run Road following a report of a woman brandishing a knife. When police arrived the suspect tried to run over a deputy and a chase ensued.  At the conclusion of the chase, police shot into the vehicle, striking and killing the suspect.
