Drugs found near child, Fairmont woman charged

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – A Fairmont has been charged after police found dangerous drugs within reach of a small child.

Police responded to a Marion County home on a report of a possible overdose and treated a male victim for a severe laceration to the hand.

While in the home police noticed drugs and paraphernalia in plain view, including a device used to smoke methamphetamine next to a baby bottle, foil with drug residue and a plastic marijuana bowl near a child’s bed. Police also found used needles, and a bag of needles with vials of a solution next to a crib.

Police found the homeowner, Trina Thorne, 45, walking with a two year old on Fairmont Avenue. Police allegedly found a purse on the stroller with the child that had three grams of suspected methamphetamine in it.

Thorne has been charged with child neglect creating a risk of injury.
