Drugs, suspected grenade recovered in Elkins traffic stop

ELKINS, W.Va. Drugs and a suspected grenade were recently discovered during a traffic stop in Elkins, according to police.

On Thursday, police stopped a car driven by Shilyn Skubis, 35, of Grafton, for an expired registration. During the stop, police observed a purse at her feet with a syringe in the top that she was trying to conceal.

When police asked Skubis and passengers to exit the vehicle, they observed a piece of burned foil and conducted a search.

Police recovered 6.4 grams of suspected fentasnyl and 11.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine in four baggies, scales, and empty bags. Police also located what appeared to be a training grenade but could not determine if it was filled with explosives or not.

Skubis has been charged with possession with intent to deliver and illegal possession of an explosive device and is being held in the Tyagrt Valley Regional Jail.
