Drunk Cheat Lake boater faces neglect charges

MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. – A Morgantown man is facing charges after operating a boat while intoxicated with a child on Cheat Lake over the weekend.

Natural Resource police officers pulled along side a boat occupied by Randy Skeen, 43, because it had no visible registration number.

While speaking to Skeen police noticed and alcoholic beverage can in the boat and that Skeen had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his speech. At that time, police also identified a 3-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl in the boat.

Skeen failed a field sobriety test and provided a breathe sample that recorded a BAC of. 114.

Skeen was been charged with child neglect creating risk of injury or death.
