Dual lane closures on I-79 in Marion County expected to cause delays next week

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – A pair of lane restrictions planned for I-79 next week are expected to complicate the commute, and West Virginia Department of Highways (DOH) officials ask motorists to consider an alternate route.

One lane of I-79 southbound will be restricted from the Kingmont to the South Fairmont exits for drainage work. The closure will be from Monday, August 7, through Friday, August 11, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

On the Northbound side, one lane will be closed between the Kingmont and South Fairmont exits between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday, August 7 through Friday, August 11, while crews pour the deck for the new Tygart River Bridge.

DOH officials said motorists should expect lengthy delays in both directions on I-79.
