Elkins man pleads guilty to drug, weapons possession in federal court

ELKINS, W.Va. An Elkins resident has pleaded guilty to having a firearm and possessing more than 12 ounces of methamphetamine, or “ice,” in federal court.

Police conducted a search of a storage unit and the residence of Joshua Ervin Cave, 43, and recovered 338 grams of methamphetamine and a hunting rifle. Cave has two prior domestic assault convictions in Randolph County, making him a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

At sentencing, Cave could be ordered to federal prison for up to 20 years for the methamphetamine charge and up to 10 years for the firearms charge.

Cave is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.

He will be sentenced at a later date.
