Fairmont man jailed after Wednesday police pursuit

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – A report from the Marion County Detachment of the West Virginia State Police says a Fairmont man is in custody after trying to elude Monongalia County authorities.

At 1:30 p.m. units from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department requested assistance after a black motorcyle fled an attempted traffic stop on I-79 southbound near Goshen Road.

When West Virginia State Police attempted to stop the motorcycle driven by Beau Bartlett, 30, of Fairmont, he fled at a high rate of speed. During the eight minute pusuit police say Bartlett drove into oncoming traffic and disregarded signals and stop signs while nearly hitting innocent motorists.

Bartlett was taken onto custody on Mill Fall Fun Road near Monongah when he lost control of the motorcycle.

The initial traffic stop was for an improper registration, now Bartlett is in the North Central Regional in lieu of a $100,000 bond for felony fleeing in a vehicle.
