Fairmont man pleads guilty in Morgantown shooting case

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A twenty-nine year old Fairmont man pleaded guilty to malicious assault in a Monongalia County court Monday.

Court documents say Carlos Pagan shot Kashif Monk in the chest in December of 2018 and leg following an altercation between Monk and Pagan’s sister. Monk escaped to Tanner’s Tavern on Listeria Avenue where he called for help.

Pagan was indicted in May of 2019 for malicious assault and attempted murder. Pagan faces up to 10 years in prison for malicious assault.

Pagan is currently serving a prison sentence at the Huttonsville Correctional Center for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and a parole violation. He will be eligible for parole on those charges in December of this year.
