Fairmont murder suspect arrested in Delaware

ELSEMERE, Del. — United States Marshals in Delaware arrested a sixth suspect in a Fairmont murder investigation.

Oscar Chapman, 28, was taken into custody Wednesday, Dec. 21 at approximately 12:30 p.m.

The Fairmont Police Department obtained a first-degree murder warrant earlier in the month for Chapman, who is also known as Rico.

Chapman is accused in the Nov. 17 shooting death of Malcom Whitted, 27 of Detroit, Michigan.

Investigators believe Chapman had been in Charleston, West Virginia before arriving in Delaware Dec. 17.

Chapman and others are accused of the deadly home invasion and robbery at the Watson Avenue home.

Michelle Kay Belton, 37 of Elkins, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Vanny Jermaine Clay, 26,  was charged with first-degree robbery.

Devon Stephens, 25 of Fairmont, was arrested Nov. 29 and charged with first-degree murder.

Two days later, Timothy Lambert, 31, and his wife Cassie Lambert were arrested in a Fairmont hotel.  Timothy Lambert was charged with first-degree murder.  Cassie Lambert was charged with first-degree murder and obstructing an officer.

According to US Marshals, one fugitive remains at large from the alleged incident.
