Fairmont pair faces neglect charges

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Two Fairmont residents are facing neglect charges after police say they were living in a home with partial electricity, deplorable conditions and drug paraphernalia with a 3-year-old and a 3-month-old.

Wednesday, deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department went to the Fairmont home of Kerstyn Miller, 22, and David Woodring, 28, with workers from Child Protective Services (CPS). In the home, police and CPS workers found moldy food, a stopped up toilet, unsamitary living conditions and drug paraphernalia in open view and within reach of 3-year-old child.

In the room where police found the 3-year-old police found burnt tinfoil, a glass pipe and other instruments for smoking narcotics.

While speaking to police both suspects admitted to using narcotics while caring for the children. Both tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana.

Miller and Woodring have been charged with child neglect resulting in risk of injury.
