Fairmont State University reports increase in virus activity

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Fairmont State University officials are reporting a slight increase in COVID cases this week.

Twelve cases were identified through surveillance testing and sixteen additional cases have identified from off-campus testing sites.

Surveillance testing randomly selects 10 percent of the on-campus population each week. Selections are made regardless of known exposure.

Currently, 528 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered and 514 people are now fully vaccinated.

The university continues to work with the Marion County Health Department to manage the virus.
