Firefighters in Clarksburg respond to fire in the former Parsons Hotel

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – The Clarksburg Fire Department quickly extinguished a fire in the old Parsons Hotel Building Friday night.

Firefighters were dispatched to the corner of Clark and North 5th Streets around 8:36 p.m., found smoke, and began searching for the source of the fire.

The source of the fire was copper wire that had been set on fire by someone who fled the scene.

Officials said they have responded to several similar incidents at the former hotel in the past.

No injuries were reported.

The Bridgeport Fire Department also responded; the Clarksburg Police Department and Harrison County EMS assisted.
