Florida man accused in Clarksburg shooting

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – A Florida man is facing multiple charges in a shooting near a Clarksburg hotel on Tolley Drive. The suspect told police the shots were fired following a physical altercation.

Saturday, police responded as Caine Vanhorn, 37, of Lake Wales, Florida, was driving away in a white pickup truck. As Vanhorn drove from the scene, police observed him throw a bag later determined to be 11 grams of methamphetamine from the vehicle on Gabriel Drive in Bridgeport.

Police said when Vanhorn was taken from the pickup truck, a 9-mm pistol and a magazine fell from the truck.

Police said two bullet holes were found in the victim’s car, four bullet holes in the hotel, and several spent shell casings in the parking lot.

Vanhorn has been charged with six counts of wanton endangerment and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
