Former Hazelton inmate gets 25 years for 2012 stabbing

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld has announced announced a former inmate at the United States Penitentiary has been sentenced to 25 years for second degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the 2012 stabbing death of another inmate.

Documents say inmate Anthony Dallas suffered nearly 50 stab wounds from Ruben Laurel, 43, in the August 2012 attack. Another inmate also suffered injuries during the attack but survived.

Laurel is now at the United States Penitentiary Terre Haute, Indiana.
