MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A fire that severely damaged four homes on Ashton Place is now under investigation.
Crews from eight Monongalia County fire departments and two trucks from Marion and Preston Counties assisted in the fire that was reported at around 11:30 a.m. Monday. MECCA 911 officials stated that the fire was fought for over four hours and lead to the total shutdown of Smithtown Road.
No injuries have been reported but the local Red Cross has reached out to residents who lost their home in the fire.
One dog was reportedly killed. The investigation of a cause is ongoing.
