Full Service Food Drive returns for 21st year

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The 21st Annual Full Service Food Drive is runs all day Wednesday in Monongalia County, hoping to bring in several thousand dollars and thousands of pounds of food to divide among county food pantries.

Jeanette Lewis with the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties, said those wishing to donate don’t need to think to hard about what makes for a good donation.

“You can drop off non-perishable food items, personal care items or cleaning supplies from 7 am to 6 pm,” Lewis explained on Morgantown AM.

Monetary donations, either cash or check, will be accepted at all sites Wednesday as well as donations for pets.

“You can give pet food. We’re always encouraging cat food, dog food and we even have folks who have birds.”

The Full Service Food Drive is a huge push made by the 11 county food pantries that make up the United Way’s FRN to get their shelves better stocked ahead of the holidays in November and December.

Food pantries in Monongalia County received 27,000 visits in 2017.

The Full Service Food Drive ends at 6 p.m. Donations can be dropped off at Kroger parking lots in Sabraton, Suncrest, and Patteson Drive.
