Gas line extension will help Preston company expand

PRESTON COUNTY, W.Va. — A $250,000 grant will bring natural gas to a Preston County business allowing for the company’s expansion. The money will go through the Preston County Economic Development authority to cover the extension of a natural gas line that will ultimately allow Allegheny Wood Products in Hazelton to change the way it processes product and open the door to additional jobs.

The grant comes from the West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council.

Allegheny Wood Products will switch to natural gas kilns as opposed to the currently used diesel kilns when the gas line extension is complete in September.

The company, opened in 1971, is expected to add 25 new jobs at the facility and increase lumber production by 10 million feet of board annually.
