Governor picks Hamilton to complete House of Delegates term in District 81

CHARLESTON, W.Va. Governor Jim Justice has appointed Anitra Hamilton to complete the term of Danielle Walker in District 81 of the House of Delegates. Walker resigned the seat when she accepted the position as Executive Director of the West Virginia American Civil Liberties Union last month.

Governor Justice made the announcement during a media briefing Wednesday.

“I have appointed Anitra Hamilton to the West Virginia House of Delegates 81st District that covers Morgantown,” Justice said during the briefing.

Hamilton is the president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in Morgantown/Kingwood and the vice chair of West Virginia University’s Council for Gender Equity.

Hamilton will be up for reelection in 2024.
