Grandmother of Harrison County abuse victim denied appeal

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – One of three convicted in the 2020 murder of a 5-year-old in Harrison County has been denied an appeal.

The grandmother of the victim, Michelle Boggs, 52, argued there was insufficient evidence to uphold the conviction in the abuse and death of Keeton Boggs.

Boggs and her daughter, Chasity Wodzinski, were both found guilty of allowing child abuse that resulted in Keeton’s death. Peter Wodzinski was convicted of the death of a child by abuse. All three family members were tried separately.

Court documents said the child was flown to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, where doctors said Keeton was covered from head to toe with bruises, brain swelling, and lacerations. The child died two days after being flown to the hospital.

In affirming the conviction, the court said Boggs knew Peter Wodzinski had abusive tendencies, but she still left the child in a dangerous situation for substantial periods of time.

Boggs will be eligible for parole in 2035.
