Grants fund housing, veterans projects in Mon, Marion and Harrison Counties

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.—FHLBank Pittsburgh, in partnership with MVB Bank Inc., has awarded nearly $500,000 to Morgantown Community Resources (MCR) for a veterans rehabilitation center.

The center will be managed by the group Aspire and be located at Hazel’s House of Hope on Scott Avenue. The $498,993 grant will finance a housing and counseling center for 26 veterans.

The Mon Valley Habitat for Humanity Inc., Clarksburg-Harrison Regional Housing Authority, and Mountain Opportunities Corporation also received grants.

Mon Valley Habitat for Humanity Inc. will use $450,000 to build three affordable housing units on Robinson Street in Fairmont.

Five owner-occupied homes will get renovations with a grant of $310,000 to the Clarksburg-Harrison Regional Housing Authority.

Five Shinnston area homes will be refurbished with a grant of about $310,000 to the Mountain Opportunities Corporation.
