Granville man apprehended attempting to flee store with $1,300 in merchandise

GRANVILLE, W.Va. – A Granville man is facing charges after stealing more than $1,300 in merchandise from the Granville Target store Monday.

Police said Andrew Sutherland entered the store with a shopping cart and filled it with $1.321.20 worth of clothes and trading cards.

An employee watched Sutherland walk past all the points of sale toward the exit.

Sutherland waited for a minute at the door and fled without paying.

The employee attempted to detain Sutherland, but he fled and was quickly stopped by police.

The merchandise was recovered.
