Gusty winds knock out power to thousands

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– Gusting winds being blamed for power outages around Monongalia County on Monday. About 3,000 customers were lost service when high winds toppled several trees and power lines around the area.

Emergency officials report nine trees were toppled and three areas with downed electrial wires. Traffic lights near Sheetz on Chaplin Road and Sheetz on Chestnut Ridge were also out for a time. No injuries or accidents were reported.

Mon Power crews were able to restore service to most customers Monday night.
