CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — An Akron, Ohio, man who was wanted for murder in Harrison County is now in police custody.
Kameron Griffin, 23, of Akron, was arrested in Ohio on Friday by the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force for the alleged kidnapping and murder of Dallion Lewis. Griffin also allegedly attempted to flee from authorities during the arrest attempt but was arrested by U.S. Marshals a short distance away from the residence he was hiding at.
According to authorities, Griffin and three other people allegedly kidnapped Lewis from his home in Hepzibah on March 21 of last year. Lewis was later found dead on Jack Run Road with multiple gunshot wounds. Griffin allegedly shot Lewis twice during the kidnapping.
Co-conspirator Dennis High, of Salem, was originally arrested and charged with felony murder. Douglas Steiner, of Mount Clare, and Jennifer Kirk, of Clarksburg, were arrested shortly after Lewis’ body was discovered.
Griffin will initially appear in Ohio on the charges. If he is detained, he will be extradited to Harrison County for trial.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and the Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force led the investigation.
The U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force assisted in the arrest.
