Three injured in I-79 wreck Friday morning

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — I-79 is expected to be shutdown through 11 a.m. Friday morning in the area of mile marker 151, which is just south of the Westover interchange.

Three vehicles were involved in an accident northbound. Three people were injured and required transportation to Ruby Memorial Hospital. The extent of their injuries is unclear.

The area has been backed up since about 8:15 a.m., with traffic at a standstill for several miles due to full lane closures.

An accident reconstructionist is on scene.

The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
