I-79 lane closures planned this week in Marion County, delays expected

MARION COUNTY, W.Va. – The West Virginia Department of Highways has announced another series of Fairmont-area I-79 lane closures that are expected to cause delays.

First, I-79 northbound side between mile marker 132 (South Fairmont) and mile marker 133 (Kingmont) will be reduced to one lane from Monday, Oct. 16 through Thursday, Oct. 19 for construction of the Tygart River Bridge crossover. Once complete, northbound traffic will use the new section of the bridge.

Next at the same location, a closure for night work between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. is planned from Thursday, Oct. 19 through Saturday, Oct. 21.

Also, between mile marker 132 (South Fairmont) and mile marker 133 (Kingmont) the southbound side one lane will be restricted for night work between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Monday, Oct. 16 through Saturday, Oct. 21.

Unknown conditions or bad weather could extend or change the schedule.
