UPDATE: I-79 reopened after Marion County crash

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — All travel lanes of Interstate 79 are reopened after a tractor-trailer crash in Marion County early Thursday morning.

Authorities say a father and son occupied the semi when the driver hit a slick spot.

Both occupants were transported to Fairmont Regional Medical Center. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

The trailer was carrying some kind of wood, which crews are continuing to clear from the roadway.

The wreck occurred at the 138 mile marker, between the downtown Fairmont exit and the East Fairmont/Pricketts Creek Road exit. The northbound lanes were reopened just before 2 p.m.

Marion County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate.
