MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Interim City Manager Glen Kelly has withdrawn his name from the search for the permanent job.
Kelly made the announcement to city council during an executive session Tuesday night, citing health concerns. Kelly stated that he has developed heart issues and additional stress seems to make the condition worse.
Since former City Manager Jeff Mikorski resigned, Kelly has been serving in the interim role.
Kelly had received multiple endorsements for the full-time job from several business and civic groups in Morgantown prior to his surprise announcement Tuesday night.
City Council is scheduled to meet with finalist for the job the weekend of Jan. 7.
