Logan Holgorsen returning to Morgantown, immediately eligible to play

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Morgantown Mohigans are getting a major offensive weapon back for the remainder of the 2017 season. WAJR-AM has confirmed junior quarterback Logan Holgorsen has re-enrolled at Morgantown High School and is eligible to play immediately.

Holgorsen announced in July that he was transferring and enrolled at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, MD for the fall semester. Holgorsen found himself behind 3-star recruit Jalon Jones on the depth chart at St. Frances who had verbally committed to Mississippi State and held offers from Alabama, UCLA, Virginia Tech and others.

As a sophomore, Holgorsen helped lead Morgantown to a 10-3 record and a semifinal appearance, throwing for 1,355 yards with 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions and holds scholarship offers from Bowling Green and North Texas.

When Holgorsen returns to the field, he is expected to boost a Mohigan offense that has not been able to establish an identity so far this year.

The Mohigans are averaging just 30 yards per game through the air and 171 yards of total offense through the first three weeks of the season.

The rushing attack came to life last week in Morgantown’s 31-10 win over Parkersburg South when Ty Konchesky broke loose for 247 yards rushing on 26 carries.

Morgantown is a home this week against 0-2 Brooke then begins three straight games against playoff teams from 2016.

The Mohigans will make back-to-back trips to the eastern panhandle starting next week at defending champion Martinsburg. Morgantown will turn around and head across the mountains again the following week to face Musselman before returning to Pony Lewis Field to face conference rival Wheeling Park.
