Man arrested accused of sexually abusing a victim in Morgantown parking garage

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – An attack caught on tape in Morgantown has led to sexual assault and abuse charges.

Sadeq Abbas Alhakeem, 20, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman January 30 in the elevator of the Chestnut Street Parking Garage.

According to Morgantown Police Chief Ed Preston, the victim was highly intoxicated when Alhakeem forced himself on her.

Initially, police and parking authority officials thought they were responding to a disabled elevator with people trapped inside.

Further investigation and review of the elevator surveillance video led to the suspect’s February 3 arrest.

Alhakeem has been charged with second-degree sexual assault and 2 counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

Second Degree Sexual Assault is punishable by 10 – 25 years in prison. First Degree Sexual Abuse is punishable by 1 – 5 years in prison.
