Mannington man faces felony after bar altercation

MANNINGTON, W.Va. A Mannington man has been arrested after discharging a weapon into the door of a bar on Railroad Street.

On Monday, a customer told police that the man, later identified as Rusty Parrish, 22, went to the back door of the bar and fired two shots into the deadbolt, trying to get the door open.

Police said Parrish left the scene before officers arrived on the scene, and workers and patrons were visibly shaken after the incident.

Parrish allegedly called the bar after the incident and told them he planned to “come back to town to shoot up the place.”

During the investigation, police found two 10 mm shell casings and several pieces of the deadbolt lying on the ground with an unfired 10 mm round.

Parrish was arrested at his home later, where police found a 10 mm handgun and seven other firearms.

Parrish has been charged with wanton endangerment involving a firearm.
