Marion County deputies recover more than a pound of fentanyl during suspected drug deal investigation

WHITE HALL, W.Va. – Two Parkersburg residents are facing drug charges after deputies recovered more than a pound of fentanyl and other drugs from their vehicle.

On Wednesday, deputies were alerted to a suspected drug deal at the Goodwill in White Hall involving a Jeep and a truck.

Deputies then learned James Potter, 44, and Amanda Potter, 40, both of Parkersburg, were in the truck.

When deputies approached the truck, they observed a loaded hypodermic needle in the open door, conducted a probable cause search, and detained James Potter.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies found $5,900 in a metal container, 16.2 ounces of fentanyl, 1.4 ounces of methamphetamine, 6 grams of marijuana, and 28 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms. Deputies also found another $1,614 in the possession of James Potter.

Both have been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and are being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
