Marion County man arrested after drug deal intercepted

MAIDSVILLE, W.Va. – A Marion County man is facing charges following a pair of drug-related incidents in western Monongalia County.

On Thursday, Feb. 23, members of the Mon Metro Drug and Violent Crime Task Force raided a home on Mason Dixon Highway in Maidsville and located a cell phone belonging to Charles Strosnider, 51, of Fairview. Police also seized 15 grams of fentanyl, 30 grams of methamphetamine, and several firearms along with the phone.

A forensic review of the phone revealed several conversations that were arranging drug transactions.

Strosnider was promptly arrested for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl following the February incident.

On Saturday, April 8, police received a tip that Strosnider was in Blacksville at The Bells.

When police arrived, Strosnider was arrested while playing video poker machines without incident due to outstanding warrants.

Police said they found two prescription pills and a phone with a conversation on it arranging a drug transaction on Strosnider. Police also recovered a backpack that had a set of scales with a white residue on them, plastic bags, and a magnetic box near Strosnider in the business.

While deputies were at Bell’s, the man arranging to buy drugs from Strosnider arrived and admitted to attempting to buy heroin.

Strosnider has been charged with possession with intent to deliver and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
