Marshals arrest fugitive in Mannington

MANNINGTON, W.Va. — Acting on a tip, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Mountain State Fugitive Task Force arrested a wanted subject in Mannington.

Jason Lee Barr, 50, of Mannington, was arrested at 3 p.m. Wednesday at a residence on Highland Street. Barr was wanted by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department for possession of a concealed firearm.

Barr attempted to evade officers by hiding under a camping trailer at the Mannington residence but was ultimately found.

In March of last year, Barr was found with two weapons and methamphetamine during a traffic stop on I-79. Charges were filed against Barr in Oct. of 2023.

In 2019, Barr was arrested by deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department after he and another subject were found unconscious in a vehicle with three pipe bombs and methamphetamine.

Barr is being held in the North Central Regional Jail until his appearance in court.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the West Virginia State Police assisted.
