Maryland woman accused of passing drugs to Hazelton inmate

HAZELTON, W.Va. A Maryland woman was charged after allegedly passing controlled substances to an inmate during a visit to U.S. Penitentiary (USP) Hazelton in Preston County.

On Dec. 19, deputies with the Preston County Sheriff’s Department began the investigation after being notified a controlled substance had been located at the facility.

An officer at the facility told deputies that a woman, later identified as Sakile Fiddermon, 23, of Fort Washington, Maryland, gave an inmate a controlled substance in a visiting room.

Deputies were then given video surveillance that showed Fidderman passing a black package to the inmate containing Suboxone strips with her left hand.

Suboxone is a Schedule III-controlled substance that is used to treat opioid addiction in adults.

While deputies interviewed Fiddermon, a correctional officer searched her car and found a multi-colored bag that contained eight more packages that appeared to be the same as what was passed in the visiting room.

The officer opened one of the containers and verified it was Suboxone.

Fiddermon has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and is being held in Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
