Masontown woman faces multiple charges following gun incident

MASONTOWN, W.Va. – West Virignia State Polive arrested a Masontown woman Friday after a shots fired call.

Police responded to the home on Orchard Lane around 8:45 p.m. and made contact with Cynthia Motta, 69, who appeared to be intoxicated. Motta told police she was tried of the abuse, but she did not seem to be under threat.

Prior to the arrival of police, a man was reported at a nearby residence house who was bleeding and said Motta had shot him in the hand.

Police recovered the handgun and three spent shell casings from the scene. Police also observed blood evidence on the back porch and three bullet holes through the rear window and screen.

Motta has been charged with three counts of wanton endangerment and one count of malicious wounding. She’s being held in the North Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $200,000 bond.
