Member of beloved Canadian TV show performs in Morgantown

Pat Roach

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — An original member of the popular cult-followed TV show “Trailer Park Boys” was in West Virginia this week.

Pat Roach, who plays “Randy” on the popular television show, was in Morgantown as a part of his “Cheeseburger Picnic” stand up tour, performing at 123 Pleasant Street Sunday.

“I’ve really enjoyed Morgantown,” said Roach in an interview with WAJR this week. “We have a lot of big fans in this town. I didn’t realize it until now, and we had a great show at 123 Pleasant Street.”

This is the second appearance for Roach in Morgantown. His first was back in 2011 as a part of the Trailer Park Boys “Drunk, High and Unemployed Tour,” which he performed with fellow cast mates John Paul Tremblay (“Julian”), Robb Wells (“Ricky”), and Mike Smith (“Bubbles”).

Despite a seven year gap between appearances, Roach said Morgantown is still a place that receives him with warmth.

“I’ve just been enjoying the folks in the town, some of the food, some of the drink and the weather’s been nice,” he said. “I even got to cruise around on the PRT yesterday which was kinda neat.”

Roach has been a mainstay of Trailer Park Boys since the show’s inception as an original TV movie back in 1999. Originally an investor, Roach took a part as a favor to college friend Robb Wells, which eventually turned into a full time supporting character on the show. Trailer Park Boys eventually received critical acclaim as a cult TV show, which led to Roach and many of his friends and cast mates to receiving worldwide recognition.

“It’s unbelievable,” Roach said. “I would’ve never thought that the show would’ve taken us around the world when we first started.”

Now, near 20 years later, Trailer Park Boys has evolved from a cult Canadian TV Show into an internationally syndicated show with a massive Netflix following. The popularity also led to the release of three movies and multiple international stand up tours, with several being filmed for Netflix. Even with the worldwide fame, Roach said it’s still about making people smile.

“You just try and spread that ‘Cheeseburger Picnic’ happiness and spread some laughs around in a world that’s a little bit too serious, try and spread some laughter,” Roach said.

The next stop for Roach will be in Syracuse as he continues the Cheeseburger Picnic Tour throughout the rest of the year.

While he is not expected to be in West Virginia anytime soon, he will be performing in Pittsburgh in 2019.
