Michigan man charged in 2022 Lost Creek double murder

LOST CREEK, W.Va. – The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office has announced an arrest for the murder of two residents in the June 2022 fatal fire on Good Hope Pike near Lost Creek.

Sheriff Robert Matheny reports Allen Leon Schaffer, also known as UNC, has been charged with the murder of Chasity Romeo and Corey Snider, both of Lost Creek.

Schaffer is a resident of Wayne, Michigan, and has been behind bars for a parole violation for leaving the state of Michigan since the June 2022 incident.

“We have noticed an influx of perpetrators from that area of Michigan that have been identified here as being involved in illegal activity, so we’ve developed a relationship with the authorities up there,” Matheny said.

Matheny said local officials, along with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, and officials in Michigan, pieced the crime together.

“They were able to collectively put the information and some evidence together that led them to an individual, and they pursued those leads,” Matheny said.

Schaffer is currently behind bars at the Carson City Correctional Center in Carson City, Michigan.
