CLARKSBURG, W. Va. – A Detroit, Michigan native pleaded guilty Monday to a federal drug trafficking charge originating out of Monongalia County.
Wali “Black” Murphy, 25, faces one count of distribution of heroin. He admitted to selling the opioid last September.
The conviction carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1,000,000.
Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Mon Metro Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, led the investigation.
Senior U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided in Clarksburg federal court.
