Mon County officials working to identify remains found

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Mon County Sheriff’s deputies and the medical examiner are working to identify a body found in a wooded area east of Fairfield Manor.

The body was found as deputies with cadaver dogs searched the area for the fifth time looking for Lorna Phillips. Phillips, 68, went missing February 11 after being released from the Mon Health Medical Center.

Investigators estimate the body had been in the wooded area for two to three months. The body was found wearing winter clothing and gloves.

The identification process is underway.
