Mon Health appoints former 16-year CEO as interim head

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Mon Health System has named a new interim CEO — by digging into their history.

Thomas Senker, who served as President and CEO of Mon Health from 1983 to 1999, will take over as interim CEO effective Thursday, April 5.

Senker takes over following the sudden retirement of Dottie Oakes earlier this month.

Oakes had been serving in an interim role for Darryl Duncan, the former President and CEO who has been on an extended leave of abscence.

The Dominion Post reports that a number of physicians signed a letter Jan. 19 stating Duncan’s leadership style had eroded employee morale and led to a number of high-profile resignations.

Senker is the founder of Grace Healthcare Advisors, a consulting firm in Charleston, South Carolina. He has also served in senior leadership roles at hospitals and health sysems in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

A spokesperson for Mon Health said a national search is still underway for a permanent CEO that they hope to fill later this year.
