MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — (Submitted by First Energy) Mon Power has scheduled electric interruptions for areas of Monongalia County, West Virginia on Friday, August 12 and Tuesday, August 16, 2016. Mon Power regrets the inconvenience, but the work is necessary to help enhance service reliability in the area.
Mon Power will be placing a newly installed second transformer and related equipment into service at a substation near Cassville, a significant $700,000 project that should improve service reliability for about 2,000 Mon Power customers in western Monongalia County.
To minimize the length of time customers are without power on August 16, some of the customers will be served temporarily to other circuits. Those customers will experience two short service interruptions, a first to set-up for the August 16 outage and a second to return the system to normal operations as described below:
538 customers will be transferred to lines from a substation near Osage. Those customers are located east of Cassville, toward and including Maidsville. They will experience two short interruptions – the first between 9 am and 10 am on Friday, August 12, 2016, and the second between 9 am and 10 am on Wednesday August 17, 2016.
130 customers will be transferred to lines from substations near Wana and Georgetown. Those customers are located west of Blacksville in the vicinity of Daybrook Road and Pedlar Run Road. They will experience two short interruptions – the first between 11 am and noon on Friday, August 12, 2016, and the second between 11 am and noon on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.
The remaining 1,138 customers will experience a service interruption from approximately 8 am until 2 pm on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. Those customers are in the vicinity of Blacksville, Cassville, Core, Fairview and Pentress.
