MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. – Investigators from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department report that a Pennsylvania woman was fatally injured in a crash at mile marker 150 on I-79 northbound Sunday afternoon.
At 2:09 p.m., a motorcycle operated by Christina Barnes, 39, of Bradenville, Pennsylvania, was northbound and making an attempt to enter the emergency U-turn lane when another car struck the motorcycle, which went off the right side of the interstate and overturned. The driver of the car was treated and released at a local hospital after being briefly trapped following the crash.
A third vehicle hit debris, but no injuries were reported.
Barnes died at the scene.
Westover Volunteer Fire Department and Mon EMS assisted.
The accident remains under investigation.
