Monongalia County QRT plans naloxone distribution event at the Mountainlair Tuesday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Monongalia County Quick Response Team (QRT) will distribute free naloxone and drug testing strips at the Mountainlair Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Members of the team will also offer training on how to use the items correctly.

“The big reason we are doing this at this time of year is that we want to focus on college students,” said Brittany Irick, coordinator of the QRT. “This is around the time that college students will be getting ready for spring break, and we want to get naloxone into their hands before they leave town.”

The Monongalia County QRT, a multi-agency unit supported by the Monongalia County Health Department has been holding Free
Naloxone Day or Save a Life Day, at multiple locations throughout the county since 2021. This spring, a mini Free Naloxone Day will be held in the spring, tentatively on April 18 at six locations. The Monongalia County QRT will also participate in a statewide awareness event Sept. 26.
