Morgantown armed robbery suspect arrested in Pennsylvania

wajr_plugMORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A suspect in a Morgantown armed robbery who took off in a rental car was arrested in Pennsylvania.

Tyrell Hixon, 27 of Jamaica, New York, is accused of being with a group of men that attempted to rob a Naomi Street resident Thursday night about 9:50 p.m.

The victim told police three men entered the home, fired a gun killing a dog, physically assaulted the victim and then took off.

Morgantown Police discovered the get-away car with a New Jersey license plate, described by witnesses, belonged to a rental company.

The rental agreement was allegedly made in Hixon’s name. Police tracked his cell phone. Pennsylvania State Police were notified and arrested Hixon off of Interstate 81 in Harrisburg.

Which revealed the phone was traveling North on Interstate 81 in the area

of Harrisburg, PA.

The Morgantown Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Tyrell Hixon to charge him with first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery.

Hixon was awaiting extradition back to Morgantown, W.Va. Friday afternoon.
