Morgantown first responders deploy new dispatch, records system

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Morgantown Police Department has deployed a new records and dispatch system that is expected to improve communication and coordination with other law enforcement agencies.

“I’ve been working to upgrade and replace the existing program to a comprehensive record management system for eight years now, this software will make many tasks in the Department flow much easier”, said Morgantown Police Chief Ed Preston. “It will also allow for easier access to important information.”

Zuercher Suite, from Central Square Technologies will add Computer-Aided Dispatching (CAD) and a shareable records management system.

The Zuercher system is already in use by departments in Mon County, now Morgantown can share vital information about suspects, crime trends and developing incidents.

The software also changes the “hand written” citation to an eCitation. Citations will now be printed from a car-based computer and given to the accused.
