Morgantown man arrested for drug possession during routine patrol

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. A Morgantown man has been charged after police discovered drug paraphernalia in plain view during a routine patrol.

On July 4, police encountered Brandon Burke, 37, and another person in a vehicle at Pietro Street and Deckers Creek Avenue. After seeing the paraphernalia, police found a backpack containing methamphetamine and a lockbox.

It wasn’t until July 10 that police obtained a search warrant for the lockbox and found more narcotics. Police said the lockbox contained nearly 35 grams of different forms of suspected cocaine.

Burke is being held in the North Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
