Morgantown man arrested for rummaging through vehicles downtown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Morgantown man is facing two charges after citizens called police to report a man rummaging through cars.

Robert Lee Wright, 64, is charged with auto tampering and attempted larceny.

He was reportedly entering vehicles in the area of Jefferson Court.

The Morgantown Police Department is reminding residents that theft around this time of year is common due to the holiday season — noting that vehicles should be locked and valuables should not be left in vehicles or in plain sight.

Residents are also encouraged to record all serial numbers on their property, which can help law enforcement in identifying and recovering lost or stolen property.
